Error when opening Word files

When I open a Word File I get the following error message:

There is not enough memory or disk space available to open the
converter "EPS Import".

If I clear the message, it all seems to work fine but I'd like to get
rid of it for good. Any ideas? Anyone else had the same trouble?

Hi,

It's a Macbook, running OS X 10.4.7

And it's Word 2004. Not sure about updates, but it's newly installed.

The error seems to happen with any file which launches Word (e.g. if I
click on a text document and Word isn't open already). I don't seem to
have a problem with files which I open from within Word... although I
haven't used it extensively yet.

Hope that's a bit more useful.

Yeah, Bob's right -- not enough information. Generically, that error can
occur because an EPS file can have multiple parts: a PostScript body, and a
TIFF or WMF placable header.

"Not enough memory" is not usually the problem: what has happened is that
Word called the OS to load the converter, then looked in memory where it
should be and found it wasn't there. It concludes that's because there's
not enough memory to load the converter. These days, the more usual
condition is that the system can't FIND the converter to load it!
