Error when Syncing

Need a little help.

I have the project server and portfolio server on the same machine. Both
are set to windows authentication. When I try and sync the two using the
server gateway/synchronize resource pools i get :

Could not synchronize resource pools from server 'SERVER NAME'. The request
failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.

when I look in the weblog, the user that is logging in is me and I am admin
on both machines.

I am not sure what is wrong.

Integrated Windows authentication (default): This option will only work if
the Office Project Portfolio Server 2007 Web.config file is set up to use
Integrated Windows authentication.

Before individual Windows authenticated users can use the Project Server
Gateway, they must first click the Preferences link in the Office Project
Portfolio Server 2007 Web interface. This will initialize the user’s
connection to Office Project Server 2007.
