Error when trying to edit a project

S

Sophie Bunce

When I go to PWA -> Project Central and click on the edit icon next to the
project I just created I get the following error message:

---------------------------
Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007 is required for this action.
Ensure that your copy of Project Professional 2007 can connect to this
server. If both of these conditions are true and you still get this message,
contact your system administrator for assistance.
---------------------------

I do have MS Office Project Profesisonal 2007 on my local machine and I can
connect to my project server with it. So what else could be causing this
problem?

One of the causes for this problem is when the URL for PWA does not
precisely match the URL you used in your Project Server login account in
Microsoft Project 2007. The URL's have to match precisely. Does that
explain your situation? Let us know.

Sophie,

There are two other things you can try:

1) Make sure that you don't have any special characters in your project name
like &, this will cause the error you mentioned. If you do have special
characters, remove them via "Edit Project Properties" and then save and
publish the project and try again.

2) If you don't have any special characters in the project name but are
still seeing this error, go and run your Microsoft Office Diagnostics under
"Start>Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Office Tools>Microsoft Office
Diagnostics". The diagnostics will identify and fix any issues with your
installation. This will most likely remedy the error you are seeing.

Option 2 in Jonathan Softer's post worked for me. I had a user that was
receiving the same error message.

Thanks1
