Error when trying to remove subtotals

I have inserted subtotals into a very large spreadsheet.

I now need to remove them, but I have not been able to remove when following
the instructions within the help section.

I want to avoid having to re-do the spreadsheet, as the download from an
Access - based tool took over an hour.
