Error when trying to save a Word doc

When I tried to save a word doc, I got an error:
"The disk is full trying to write to "NAVTA15. [that's the computer
hard drive]" Free some space on this drive, or save the document on
another disk.
Try one or more of the following:
*Close any unneeded documents, programs, and windows.
*Save the document on another disk."

It's only this document that won't save. Other documents have been
saved. I've copied the text to a new document, and I still get the
error. I've tried saving it to different servers, but I get the same
error. None of these things are actually full, since other documents
can be saved. I can save it as text only, but that does me no good,
since this is a template. Without the correct formatting, it's
gibberish. I can also save it as a pdf, but I need it as a word doc.
Any idea what's causing this, and how I can fix it?

Thanks!

Did you try copy-pasting all but the last paragraph mark to a new doc
and saving that? (That's a famous corruption busting techinque. There
is a tendency for all the evil to collect in the data structure hiding
behind paragraph markers. The very last paragraph mark seems to collect
the worst of it, and is usually harmless to leave behind.)

In your specific circumstances, this can be caused by opening the BACKUP
file instead of the actual document. So when you try to save, Word can't
save the file because it can't create a backup because the thing it's
trying to write IS a backup and Word gets very confused...

What is the file extension of the file you are trying to save? (Look in
Finder to make sure you can see it...)

Cheers
