Error with Default Column Amount in Excel

I've just upgraded to Leopard. Now when I open a NEW document Excel it
defaults to 4 columns x 20 rows. No preference I change or page layout I
play with will let me alter it. I also just ran a software update to be sure
it wasn't something that could solve. Anyone have any ideas?

Check out the "default workbook template" in XL Help.

1. Open a fresh workbook
2. Configure it the way you want
3. Save it *as a template* with the name "Workbook"
(no quotes, no extension) in the Startup folder (or the
alternate startup folder if you've set it in Preferences/General).
