Error with Rules Wizard

Outlook 2000 on a Win XP machine

I have created a few sets of rules to scan my incomming
email to try and weed out the spam I'm getting. However
one of the rules I'm having problems with. Here's what
happens.

When a new message is received the rule is activated
however Outlook displays a error message saying that
there was an error when trying to apply this rule.
Outlook then turns this rule off.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Any help would be
great.
