Error: "Your Outlook and Word versions do not match."

T

ts_1s

This is received when trying to create a new message. After displaying the
error, Outlook automatically opens the new email message in the Outlook
editor and displays another error saying that the ActiveX controls cannot run
proprely (gives 2 different possible causes that I can't remember the syntax
to at this moment).

I have Outlook 2002 and Word 2002 installed.

History:
I was previously having an issue where Outlook would crash seconds after
trying to create a new message. I realized that Outlook was trying to launch
Word 2000 by default. Based on another KB article, I ran:

Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll

Now it doesn't crash, but I get the error message above ("versions must
match"), despite the fact that they appear to match.

Thought, ideas, suggestions?
