Error

i have a sony laptop with windows 2000 sp4 and office xp
all updates have been installed however whenever i start
word and try to save something i get the following error
message
Faulting application winword.exe, version 10.0.2627.0,
faulting module vbe6.dll, version 6.3.91/8, fault address
0x000192d1
this comes up as event id 1000 i have reinstalled office
can someone please advise as to how i can rectify this.

Hi Wayne,

Are you also using Norton AV? If so then the "Office Plug-in" option
in Norton is known to cause this error. Disable the option in Norton
Options in the Miscellaneous section and see if that rectifies the
problem.

If that isn't the case then it could be caused by a malfunctioning
global template/add-in.

To determine if you are using any global templates go to
Tools/Templates and Add-Ins and see if there are any global templates
or add-ins listed. If so they are located in one of your Startup
folders. The location of the Word\Startup folder can be found under
Tools/Options/File Locations and the Office\Startup folder can be
found in the Office installation path..

Take a look in each folder and if you find more than one file move
them one at a time and try duplicating the error after each file is
moved out of the folder until you determine which one is causing the
problem.
