Hi! Reposted help request as error message is actually "Unable to read file",
rather than "Unable to open file"

Excel and Word files on my computer's (running XP and 2000) hard drive at
home refuse to be opened by their respective applications, whether you double
click on the file within Explorer or use File Open within the application
itself. Even tried right-clicking on the file and using the 'Open With'
command. Error message appearing is "Unable to read file." It's almost as if
the link between the file and its relevant application doesn't seem to be
happening...Weird! Any guidance helpful as need to access these files quite
urgently. Cheers, Rob
