I just bought two new laptops with WinXP Pro installed. I
installed Office 97 and I am trying to open Word Docs on a
network drive. I keeping getting random errors when files
are opened ie. "File is in use by another user","Word
cannot open the document..Make sure the file has .doc
extension","Word failed reading from this file(filename)
Please restore the network connection or replace the
floppy disk and retry."
This problem does not happen with W98 or W2K workstations.
I thought it might happen with dots '.' in the file name
ie. "new.file.doc" I have renamed all files replacing
dots with dashes.
I am running Windows SBS 2000.
