Errors sending emails with large attachments

I've looked at the forum on this subject and I'm pretty sure that it's not a
time out issue. It maybe something to do with McAfee though.

The error is: Response recieved is: 552.5.2.3 Message exceeds maximum fixed
size (5242880). Consult the online help for your email program for more
information on this error. Contact your e-mail provider if the problem
persists.

The issue is not sending attachements over 5 Mb. I can send them when they
are smaller say 1 or 2 Mb.

I'm running XP Professional and I have a 2 Meg cable connection with NTL in
the UK. My email program is Outlook.

I've tried disabling the virus software (McAfee) to no avail, but
interestingly this is the program informing me that my email was not sent
well after Outlook has
The funny thing is that last week I sent an email that was over 25 Mb
without a problem.

I tried disabling the outgoing checking function and then emails would sit
in the outbox and the system would get it's proverbials in a knot.

What an I missing. Help

Sounds like there is a limit set know. Contact the ISP you are using the
SMTP of to verify your sending limit.

Often this is a limit imposed by the recipient's mail server. Otherwise,
it's a transmission limit imposed by your ISP.

I'll check out my ISP. It is funny that last week I could send something 25
MB without errors?

Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know if this is the issue

Hi Folks,

You are indeed correct. It is my ISP that is the problem.

Thanks for your help. I must have got lucky with the large attachment that
appeared to transmitt.
