Errors when closing Word

There are a couple of similar posts re this problem, but I don't see an
answer that helps me. On closing a Word template, I get the following error:

Application exception occurred:
App: (pid=1280)
When: 9/23/2004 @ 17:07:46.560
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

This is followed by literally pages of stack errors, etc. The doc is a
template that others have to use, and I'd like to figure out how to clean it
up so they don't run into this every time they close it. Clues greatly
appreciated.

I just discovered that if I include instructions in the macro to open a blank
document before closing the template, I don't get the error. The user has to
exit manually from Word, but that's preferable in my mind to getting hung up.
