Errors when copy/paste charts from Excel 2007 to PPT 2007

When I try to paste the multi-colored pie chart, that I've created within
Excel 2007, into PPT 2007 I end up with a greyscale version. There are
several pre-established templates that I can choose from within PPT at that
point, but they are all varying versions of the same greyscale chart.

How do I keep my source color scheme when I paste into PPT 2007? I've tried
the various options within "Paste Special" and none of them seem to help.

I don't repro this problem here. Can you email me the Excel chart as
well as a PPT file in which you inserted it? You can get my email from
my website.

Thanks,

I looked at the file and you actually stumbled across a new feature in
PPT 2007. There are now so called themes with theme colors. If you take
a look at the color scheme your current theme has (Design tab, Colors),
you'll see that it only has those particular colors you see in the pie
chart (it's actually not grayscale, but carious almost grayish shades).
Your Excel chart on the other hand though uses the default Office theme
with the default colors, and hence you see it multi-colored. When you
paste the chart into PPT, it automatically applies the theme of the PPT
and hence your chart looks different.
In PPT 2007 with the new Office theme concept, you should make sure to
pick all your colors only from within the theme colors. That guarantees
you (as long as you use the built-in ones) that the colors will always
match perfectly. For your presentation, you should take a look whether
you can't find a theme that has the red that is dominant in your ppt or
create one of your own.
Hopefully Echo will read this reply. She has played around extensively
with the new Office themes in PPT already and can tell you much better
than I how to go about creating your own theme and other theme-related
issues.
