Errors when sharing calendars- anyone have any ideas??

S

Scott Rucci

I'm trying to use Outlook 2003 to manage 5 calendars over a network,
but am experiencing a number of problems.

1)The most consistent problem is that one of my co-worker's calendars
will not appear in the "my calendars" area. We've followed identical
permission and sharing procedures on all computers, but this one will
not appear in the list. To access this calendar I must click on "Open
a Shared folder" everytime I navigate to the calendar view. This
particular calendar does show up in the "my calendars" area of other
user's computers in our work group, just not on mine.

2. Certain settings periodically seem to get lost. Specifically, the
calendar autoformatting rules and the custom form I use for contacts.
They will work fine for weeks and then, with no apparent cause, they
will be gone. I can reimport the form, but the only way I can find to
get the rules back is to manually rewrite them. (I use these rules to
color code certain types of activities).

3. Sometimes scheduling and rescheduling activities cause crashes and
erratic behavior. Frequently, when I attempt to reschedule a meeting
from the calendar of the meeting organizer by dragging the start or
end time in day view, I get a series of 8-10 dialogues asking if I
want to send an update to the meeting attendees. Regardless of whether
I select yes, no, or cancel the dialogue repeats 8-10 times and then
Outlook crashes. If I go to try the same rescheduling again, usually I
get the same error. I can delete the meeting altogether and reschedule
from scratch to work around the problem. Also, sometimes a meeting
request will go out to everyone in the workgroup except me. Other
times, using the same scheduling procedure, it will work as desired.

I'm perplexed and no one in our organization has a solution. Any
suggestions or ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
