Errors with equations & other object inserted in Word 2003

Morning. I re-installed my OS from MS Win XP to MS Win XP SP2. I had MS Word
2003 on my PC, which worked without any serious problems. But, then I go to
SP2 and installed Office 2003 I have a problem with objects inserted in Word,
such as equations. I can make & insert it correctly, but I can’t change it.
Word gives my massage, that object can not be change, because user has not
enough rights. I've heard much about this problem, but I've not heard about
its solving. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

Thanks for an idea, Suzanne S. Barnhill, but it didn’t make any effect. I
turned off Norton AV Office plug-in, but I still have the problem. And before
it I used Norton AV 2003 with Office Plug-in turned on and was able to open
and edit any objects. Is there any other way to solve?

Did you restart Word after disabling the plug-in? Take a look under
Tools/Macro/Security and see if the bottom of the dialog box indicates
"Virus scanner(s) installed". If so then the plug-in is still enabled.

The inability to edit embedded objects is a known issue. The method
Word uses to communicates with the source of the embedded object was
changed slightly and now Norton perceives it as a threat so it
prevents the communication.

Here's a KB article that contains more information on this issue (note
it covers Office XP but it is applicable to Office 2003):
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q328613

If you've updated Norton and have verified you disabled the plug-in
and Word is no longer using it then post back and we'll go from there.
