Estimated finish

We work the first time with Project and have some troubles putting one of our
ideas into action.
For our project we would like to enter estimated finish times/dates. This
would be for tasks which will finish on time (estimated finish = baseline
finish), but especially for tasks that we see will be delayed and finish
after the baseline finishing date. So far we only found "actual finish",
which can only be entered if you have finished the task now (% complete =
100%). But what we're looking for is a possibility to enter a date say three
days in the future if we see this task will be finished in three days. The %
compoleted could for now also be 60% and only 100% in three days. Is it
possible to enter an estimated finish time and then let it show also in the
bar diagramm of the GANTT Chart? And in case there were dependencies, could
they be recalculated based on the estimated finish date as well?

Thanks for any help!

Hi,

I don't like the idea (Project has to tell me what is the most likely
finish) but yes of course, you can
- change the estimated duration or
- Give the task a finsh no earlier than constraint.

Hope this helps,

If you track properly, you should always be seeing your "estimated" finish.
All the start and finish dates in project are estimated until they are
replaced with actual dates in the tracking process.

If you track by entering Actual Work and Remaining Work, your finish date
on that task will be your estimated finish, based on the lastest
information. You don't need anything more. What would an additional
"estimated" finish do?
Hope this helps in your world.
