Event handler when a mail from the inbox is selected

Hi,
I was wondering how one could capture events whenever a mail from the inbox
is selected.
I am trying to create an add-in using VB.
If I could capture these events, is there any way in which I could open up a
window inside the outlook interface in response to these events.
