Event ID 1000 for Office XP

I've gone through the troubleshooting steps listed in the kbarticle for this
event id, but it still gives me the error and shuts down powerpoint when I
try to open a specific presentation. It was created in powerpoint 2003, and
if you try to open it in 2002 on Windows XP or 2k it gives the event 1000
issue.

I've checked all of the registry permissions
I've deleted the usrclass.dat and log files
I've installed all the latest patches, etc. for office xp.
I've installed all of the latest patches, etc. for windows 2k.
I've even reinstalled Office XP.
The presentation will open on the machine fine with the powerpoint 2k3
viewer. (don't think this matters).

Ideas?

Ok, the client said that it was locking up when it would get to slide 5 in
the normal view. So I moved slide 5 to the first slot and the error went
away.

I opened the same ppt on another workstation and it opened fine, however,
this was a PPT that was saved as an older version, then opened in 2k3,
resaved as a 2k3 file.
