EventViewer error - 1004- UserData does not exist

Darrell

I have installed MS Office 2003 on our corporate network. We run WIndows 2000
on our desktops, and run neware 6 as network SW.
On a number of PC's (approx 30 so far) a single user on a PC will have the
office configuration progress bar start\ rollback 2 or 3 times before the
program starts.
This happens every time an office program is started.
The customized settings we rolled out in Office are not applied, and default
settings are set.
Office 2000 or office XP was installed on the pc's having the problem.
Each time an MSiInstaller error -event ID 1004- is generated.
The last line states that 'The resource
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\WOrd\UserData does not
exist.'
Any ideas of why the user specific subkeys are failing to be generated?

I have been having the exact same problem, it is driving me to the point of
insanity. I've tried everything suggested on the Web and nothing has changed
my problem.

We are having the same issue. Installed Office 2003 and an mst via GPO
and get the exact same symptoms. Appears to be doing a per user
install instead of per machine.

Did you install include a transform?

Hi all,

Were any of you able to fix this problem? We are just about to start
deploying Office 2003 company wide and are using GPO along with a transform.

So far out of the 20 beta systems, I have had two run into the same problem
described above. In both cases, I had to completely uninstall and reinstall
Office from the share point.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
