evertime i want to correct something and go back it untyps itself

evertime i writesomething infront of another word it starts erasing as i type
for example...
hello what is up.
if i type elephant infront of hello i would look up and it would say
elephantat is up.
get it? please tell me what to do.

You are in Overtype mode instead of Insert mode.
Double-click the OVR button in the status bar (the bottom of the window) or
press the Insert key on the keyboard once.

In case of Word 2007, you may or may not see the option in the status bar –
depends on you settings. If turned on, it will show “Insert†or “Overtypeâ€.
You only need to click it once to toggle the setting. Right-click in the
status bar to get access to add/remove items.
