Everything is locked by default

When creating a new UML diagram in Visio 2002 everyting is "locked" by
default (has little padlocks around it). For instance I cant click on a
shape and edit the text....I have to go into the shapesheet and change the
value of LockEditText for every single shape I want to edit.....please help.
