Everytime time open Office word/excel - Gathering information inst

I installed Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 as a clean install and so far have
had only one problem: Every time i open a Office program or double-click an
office document regardless of the office program, the windows installer
window opens, gathers information, closes and THEN the program opens. Even if
I have i.e. Word open with a document in it, if I try to open a second
document, the 'installer' process cycles again.

Any ideas?

This is a symptom that you installed Office when logged in as you instead of
logged in as the Administrator and install 'for all users'. It is not the
same installing as you, even if you have Admin permissions, it still has to
be installed with the Admin log in. This is a security change in Vista that
stops hostile activity.

I am an administrator and turned off the User Account Control. It is only
happening on this computer. My 2 other computer with Vista x64 doesn't have
this problem.

I don't know why you have this problem then. I've not experienced this other
than when Word hasn't been installed by the Administrator log-in. I
certainly would not recommend turning off UAC either unless it was on a
computer that was never connected to a network or the Internet.

Can you tell me how to COMPLETELY remove office and all of it's registry
entries?
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall, but after reinstalling, you can
tell the registry is messed up because it doesn't assign the extensions to
office programs and excel shows up with a popup nsaying "stdole32.tlb' and an
OK button.
Also it might be wise to reinstall Windows Installer 4.0 for vista; any
ideas on how to do that as well?

What version of Office? There is an eraserxx.exe utility for some versions
that will do what you want.

There isn't an eraser for 2007 yet. Uninstall should rid all the significant
bits. If you then reinstall Office 2003, it will use its own registry
settings and reregister itself in Windows as the primary applications for
mail, docs, xls, etc.

I tried what you said and reinstalled 2003, uninstall, reinstall 2007 but it
still has those problems. Excel and Word still take 5 minutes to load. :(
I know I'm not the only one who has this problem, because a quick google
search shows hundreds of posts like this with no solution so far.

excel 2003 closes out when trying to copy a portion of my excel and then
trying to open up a new mail in outlook
