EWS and exchange account tasks and notes folders

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange My local notes and tasks were mixed with my exchange data. I saw a post that they are not actually mixed and that there is a way to force all new tasks and notes to be created on the exchange server. But what if I still want to create tasks and notes on my local machine?

Is there a way to have separate local and exchange folders like with contacts, calendar, etc...? If not, is this something that will be fixed soon?

thanks!

I saw that but didn't try it yet. I think it keeps the folders the same way and keeps them mixed but just makes it so that any new tasks or notes you create are created on the exchange server.
Is that correct?

That's correct. If you have an Exchange account as your default account
then all *new* notes and tasks are created under the Exchange account.
If you have a POP or IMAP account set as your default then all *new*
notes and tasks are created only on your computer.

Entourage has no means to differentiate between the two using the views
available. I was going to write a script that sorts through notes and
tasks and marks them as "Exchange" or "Local", but didn't see a need
since you can use Outlook Web Access (OWA) to distinguish between the two.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, seems like we have to live with it "as is" for now. Do we know if they're going to fix this or was this not an oversight?

I'm running Entourage 2008 EWS v13.0.3 under Snow Leopard 10.6.2 on a
MacBook Pro. I only have one account active with Entourage - my
Exchange account, however I've not been able to get the actual Tasks
and Notes visible under the Exchange account view - I can see the
folder sub-structure under Notes when I click on my top level Exchange
icon - but no actual notes are visible...

In order to see/edit the actual notes, I must click the 'Notes' button
(ditto for Tasks), which takes me to the Notes view under "On My
Computer". Same for Tasks. I have tried the tip posted under
http://blog.entourage.mvps.org/2010/01/entourage_for_ews_notes_and_tasks_dont_sync.html#more
however it does not work - the 'make Default' button being greyed out
- which would make sense given that I only have the one active
account.

The notes/tasks appear to be synchronising correctly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Sean

do we know if MS plans to fix this so that you will have a folder notes and tasks on your exchange server and separate folders for those on your local machine? or is this how they want it?

thanks

Are you sure they are not synchronizing? Unlike the Calendar and
Contacts areas of Entourage, the Notes and Tasks sections will not
display a separate Exchange header. Everything will appear under "On My
Computer". However, if you Exchange account is the default then new
notes and tasks will sync with Exchange.

Old notes and tasks will need to be recreated.

Hope this helps!

Only Microsoft can say and they haven't said anything.

I suspect their focus is on Outlook 2011 right now, which means future
features in Entourage are not likely.

Hope this helps!
