EWS and ical invitations

Gday Guys

Office 2008 12.2.3 with Web Services Edition is in use on a Mac running
10.6.2.

Currently when accepting an iCal invitation, users receive the following
error message: "Item type is invalid for AcceptItem action." - Explanation:
Mail could not be sent. Account name: username, Error -19872.

I have been able to replicate this issue on multiple machines, each running
the latest version of Entourage and on 10.6.2 plus 10.5.8 client machines.

Issue does not occur without Web Services Edition (ie. normal Entourage).

The item does appear in the calendar, however the confirmation/acceptance
email is not sent, gets stuck in the outbox and needs to be manually deleted.

Any help is greatly appreciated

While I suspect this is a problem in the EWS version of Entourage as I
think you suspect too, I would be curious to know if you receive the
same error when using Apple's Mail client in Snow Leopard.
