Ex 04 Files won't associate with Excel...

I recently installed Office 04 on a G4 running Jaguar. First some of the
old Excel files will not open to Excel when you double click them. However
some will, and we have not determined the variable here. But all new files
will not associate with Excel. When you double-click them they just blink
and nothing happens. Has anyone had this problem? Any thoughts/suggestions
would be most appreciated.

have you set the MacOS file associations (select a file, choose File/Get
Info, select XL in the Open With pane and click on Change All)?
