Ex03 not rececing all emails

Brad Palmer

I've got an SBS2003 server that I've just transfered a domain to.

the domain was hosted externally from the office and local users connected
via IMAP to the host with Outlook 2003.

I moved the MX record and setup exechange to receive email on the new
domain.

MX record transfer has been in effect for over 12 hours.

email flows in - but the issue is, not all email. it seems to be centered
around replies.

I suspect that it's replies to email sent when the domain was hosted
externally. and the header contains some information that is confusing
Exchange 2003 (on a SBS 2003 box)

I've seen something similar before and an adjustment to the X400 record to
acceppt the domain name regardless of previous header details would resolve
the issue - any ideas?

this is really an exchange question, not outlook...

Did you get a new domain name? If not, I don't see that it would be the
x400, unless users are replying with an internal address that can't be
routed.

Are replies flowing in and new mail isn't or new mail is coming but users
aren't getting replies? If so, you need to set their internet address as
default in Exchange system manager.

Did end up being an MX entry combined with A record issue,

some senders doing a reverse dns lookup wouldn't send to it.
