Exact line spacing cuts the words in half

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

When I'm setting the line spacing for a paragraf to an exact number, ex 14 pt for an 9 pt high font, the bottom half of the word doesn't show on the screen. In print it looks normal, but I need it to look OK at the screen aswell.

What to do?

In what View & at what Zoom? Obviously 14 pt line spacing should be more
than adequate for 9 pt type. What other formatting is applied? What other
details can you supply bout the source & content of the document?
