Excel 11.3.7 missing Insert/Text Box option?

I have not inserted a Text Box in an Excel spreadsheet recently but I recall
that in earlier versions of Excel 2004 that one used to be able to go under
the "Insert" pulldown menu to "Text Box." I can find no such option now.

When I look in Excel 2004's Help, it says "1. On the Insert menu, click Text
Box"

Help, please?

By Golly, Norm, you're absolutely right!

I honestly can't remember whether it *used* to be - although I would
certainly expect that it was - nor can I fathom what might have displaced
it. I hadn't noticed because I draw very few text boxes in Excel & when I do
create one I typically use the tool on the Drawing Toolbar.

I've tried resetting the Menu Bar without success - in fact, the Text Box
command isn't even listed in the Insert category nor does it reappear if you
completely replace the Insert Menu with a fresh copy from the Built-In Menus
group. It appears to have been torched somewhere along the line.

However, the command is still available in the Customize Toolbars/Menus
dialog in both the All Commands and AutoShapes groups. It can be added back
to the Insert Menu (or any other) from there.

Thanks very much, Bob, for not only checking and confirming that this is a
bug but also for the options you spelled out for working around it.

Hopefully, that is a bug that is corrected in Office 2008.

Hopefully, the Help menu directions on Insert Text Box will be corrected AND
amended to include easy-to-follow directions on how , move, re-size and use
text boxes in Excel worksheets.

Hi Norm -

I've gotten confirmation that MS has received my note & they are looking
into it. I'll provide you with the findings as soon as I hear from them - if
indeed they don't post a reply here.
