Excel 2000 close as soon it starts

I have a user that everytime he starts excel either by clicking on the
application, from the program menu or by clicking on an .xls file, the excel
screen open and close right away. Checked the application event and the
security even logs and couldn't find anything wrong.

The user is using excel 2000 SP3 on a Windows 2000 OS. Tried to boot in
safe mode but had the same problem. Tried to rename the eurotool.xla but got
the same problem as well. Any idea you may get on how to fix the problem
would be welcome.
