Excel 2000 Crashes Upon Close

I have an HP Pentium III computer that just recently began crashing when
closing Excel. The system eventually tells me that resources are running
very low. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Excel and download/installed
Windows Office 2000 updates. No improvement. Any suggestions.
