An Excel 2000 on a LAN fails to open a file on a server share that other
workstations on the LAN can open without trouble.
Message is not at all enlightening: "Program Error - Excel.exe has generated
errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created".
I think this means that "something bad happened."
Anyway, the identity and location of the error log is a complete mystery.
Win2K Pro doesn't log an application error. Currently, user has to move to
another desktop to work on the workbook.
Excel starts normally. No indication of problem until you try to open the
file.
Where does one start to shoot this problem?
TIA,
