Excel 2000 error when renaming a sheet

I have a 2.5 MB Excel 2000 file containing about ten worksheets and some
macros.
When I try to rename a recently added new sheet, Excel closes with some
error reporting.
The file has worked perfectly until I renamed the sheet. I've tried to save
ithe file with a new file name. It didn't help.

I run it in XP Pro.
