excel 2000 files open

Is there any way to get Excel (2000) to behave like Word and show open
spreadsheet files separately / as a list on the taskbar rather than having
to go to the "Window" command in the program to select?

Tools, Options, View, Windows in Taskbar.

That is selected but I am not seeing open workbooks stacked on the taskbar.
There is just one icon .... the individual files are only accessible from
the Windows Menu Command.

Try toggling the setting, Close and reopen and toggle back? I don't know
if there is an operating system issue here or not.

This is caused by not having the Windows Desktop update installed.
