EXCEL 2000 Freezes Computer

Recently my Excel 2000 program started locking up my
system. Our MIS guy at work has reinstalled repeatedly
but this problem will not be fixed. He stated there is no
fix. Anyone know anything about this and how to fix it?
I can't believe this problem hasn't been resolved
somewhere.
