Excel 2000 global decimal point setting

Suddenly my Excel sheets are treating all entries to 2 decimal points. If I
enter 5 I get 0.05 as data. I don't think I changed anything and the cell
formatting seems to be the same. I 'recycle' spreadsheets for monthly
accounting purposes and use the previous settings which work fine. If I go
to an old sheet I get the same action???

Tools>Options>Edit. Un-check "fixed decimal places"
