Excel 2000 not remembering recent files

My "recent" files list is not being updated when I open a spreadsheet by
double clicking on the sheet directly.

Is there a setting to change this?

If I recall correctly, xl2002 was the first version to automatically update the
most recently used file list by double clicking on the file in windows explorer.

I don't think xl2k does this.

But if it's really important to you, Dana DeLouis posted some VBA code that
