Excel 2000 - Stop autoformat of e-mail addresses?

D

David Lipetz

Using Excel 2000, every time I enter text into a cell that is an e-mail
address, Excel autoconverts it to an e-mail hyperlink and changes the format
to underlined and 10pt. This is a nuisance for me as I do not want any of
these things to occur. Especially the hyperlinks as they have to be removed
one at a time.

I've tried changing the format of these cells to Text and to several others,
but none seem to work.

How can I disable this feature?

Thanks.

I'm not sure about Excel 2000, but in Excel XP, select Tools, Autocorrect
Options and clear the hyperlink check box under Autoformat as You Type.

Right-click the hyperlink you want to deactivate, point to Hyperlink on the
shortcut menu, and then click Remove Hyperlink.
