Hello all,
I'm working with someone with a very odd issue. I think I've got the
conditions down that cause the problem, but not a resolution. Here goes:
He has a computer running Windows XP using Excel 2002 SP-2. When he opens,
modifies, and saves an .xls file on a network drive that is on a Windows
2000 Server, it creates another file in the following format: <file
name>~RF<6 or 7 character hexidecimal value>.tmp
As an example the original file name is work_2004.xls ... a file called
work_2004.xls~RF8e253d.TMP is created.
If he does the same thing on a WinNT 4.0 Server there is no problem.
He works in a corporate environment with mixed domains {AD and WinNT 4}. His
NT Domain account is one of the Legacy WinNT 4.0 Domains. {I'm not sure if
that matters}.
I've checked for viruses, odd processes / services {like spyware, or
trojans}, system messages in the event logs, but I can't find anything out
of the ordinary.
Does anyone have any ideas?
