Excel 2002 disabled by service pack upgrade - need help

C

Chicago Chris

I have a Gateway with XP and Office 2002 suite factory installed. I wa
the original purchaser of this PC but they did not provide a disc when
purchased it. Now my Excel has been disabled, I believe by a servic
pack upgrade. When I try to start Excel it asks me to insert th
installation CD. Gateway no longer supports the software version I hav
so they cannot send me the backup CD. They can sell me an upgrade of th
Office suite.

There are also some Outlook features that I tried to use but it als
want the installation CD so it can load the features.

If I purchase the upgrade I am sure I can get my Excel working. Bu
what happens when I am ready for a new PC. Can this upgrade CD be use
on a new system without the original install CD? Is there anythin
Gateway can give me (a key code or something) that could be used wit
the upgrade so I can load it on a new system? Do the upgrade CD'
actually have a full version of the software on them?

Help, I miss my Excel
