Excel 2002 Issue

When I have Excel open and I receive an email with an Excel attachment in
it, I can't open the email without closing Excel and reopening it. I've
tried repairing my installation, but that doesn't help. Any suggestions?

Try right ckick on the attachment>save

This might end up being a waste of time, but maybe....

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.

You might want to close the email program, too. The reopen everything and test
it out.
