Excel 2002 Save as Web (File Attached)
Enclosed you will find the modified smaller original macro exce
document and the necessary data file to create the problem during sav
as web. To make sure that I do not cause any harm/damage to any one
system please follow/read below steps:
1. Unzip the two files and place them in the same folder.
2. Set your application (Excel 2002) Macro security to high.
3. Open the Input.xls and check the macro. The macro contains th
following functions:
a. Macro: start of data handling.
b. Main: opens the data file, creates sheets, page formatting etc.
c. Create_Chart: Creates chart for the collected data, placement
format of the chart etc.
d. Remove_The_Files: Removes any sheets that are not required
limitation of sheets etc.
4. When you are sure you still want to check this out, just run th
macro to create the file.
5. The macro will only create the result file but does not save it
Know you should be able to save the file as web.
6. The reason for way I attached the macro file is instead of th
result file is that the result file is to large to be posted on thi
forum.
7. Below you will find explanation to me problem.
Background:
1- I created a workbook using the Excel 2000 (Office 2000 SP3 OS:Wi
2000).
2- The workbook contains several sheets which are used to displa
numerical data and charts.
3- The data is been collected/imported from .DAT files using VB/Macr
which also creates/add new sheets and charts. And finally saved a
Web.
4- Every thing works fine when using Excel 2000. And the created we
result are working beautifully.
Problem:
When jag try to use the same workbook in Excel 2002 (Office XP SP
OS:XP) the problem appears. The Excel seems at save as web for som
strange reason stop responding at 100% CPU.
I have been successfully eliminated the problem to the function “Sav
As Web”. Because every think works until the Excel starts saving th
result as .htm. I simply created a new Workbook in Excel 2002 and onl
added the macro used to create the file original file to this one an
removed the save as web command. The result was fine all data/chart wa
created correctly and I was able to save the document in .xls.
But when I tried to save the same file in .htm the problem appea
again. The web save process in Excel 2000 takes only few seconds but i
Excel 2002 it takes for ever and its never finish. The result is tha
only the htm file for the first 3 or 4 sheets and nothing more.
Clues:
1- The workbook contains up to 20 sheets with up to 2000 rows of data.
2- On each sheet a chart is been created to present the above mentione
data.
3- The document is easily save in Excel 2000 and 2002 as .xls. Th
problem appears only when the file is save as web in Excel 2002.
4- I have checked the macro/VB. The problem is the same when I try t
save the file manually.
5- No password is been used.
6- The original file was made in Excel 2000. But as I explained earlie
recreation of the workbook in Excel 2002 hade no effects.
7- The Excel 2002 starts creation of the web files, and it seems t
stop when it reaches the lager sheet with lager amount of data/Chart
But as I mentioned earlier the same workbook is been save by Excel 200
in five seconds.
