Excel 2002 to 2000

Anyone have any idea why my file takes an hour to open in
Excel 2000. I generally use 2002, but I have other users
who want to use 2000. The file is protected and contains
macros, conditinal formatting, and data valadation. Any
ideas so that I can make it compatible with both versions
of Excel?

Try saving it in xl200- and distributing that version, xp
adds some extra stuff into the file.

Generally its best to develop in the lowest common
denominator, but I prefer to work in the latest and then
save it and test it in the lowest.

If it really does take along time to open check that it is
not a dual format file (95 and 97/2000/2002/2003). none
of the features you mention sound like they would cause a
problem to me.
