Excel 2003 always goes to safe mode every time!!

Please somebody help me!!
I have a user who's excel 2003 running on XP Professional w/svcpak 2 and
Office svcpak 2 installed too! Everytime they Open Excel from either a
shortcut or from the start menu. It just starts to launch and then it says
"...has restarted in safe mode." So I have uninstalled it completely and
rebooted the PC then I have removed all the files from the XLStart folder.
Re-installed it and still it behaves the same way! Very very frustrating!
Is there a registry key or something I can do to be sure that there is not
any of it's files left so I can really get a clean install re-install!??

Thanks for your assistance with this in advance everyone!

What happens if you do this:

Start, run
Excel.exe /unregserver

followed by:

Start, run
Excel.exe /regserver

Does it fix the problem?

Hello Jan,

I actually already did that and used the /Automation switch too! Same
results Excel Safe mode everytime!

When I did the unreg and reg as below there are no messages or errors the
commands go through fine!! But the problem still remains!!
(P.S. I found this great article on startup problems written by some MVP.
JKP I think were their initials! LOL! It's your article Jan and I am trying
to use it to solve my problems, but it has not worked yet!!)

Start, run
Excel.exe /unregserver

followed by:

Start, run
Excel.exe /regserver

Thanks for the hint's and the great article!
Ok so what now? LOL!

Sounds like you need to bite the bullit and download an Office removal
tool
from MS. Then uninstall, run that tool, then reinstall. Searching for
Office
removeal tool should get you the address I hope.
