I have deployed Excel 2003 within my company across multiple countries. If
someone sets the regional information to non-English (i.e German or Spanish)
excel crashes on closing with the not very useful error "Microsoft Office
Excel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience." We are not experiencing the problem in the US, though I can
force it by changing to a different language.
We're running XP patched through at least Sept 2008, & Office 2003 with SP3.
I have ruled out Microsoft support article 831900 - Error Message When You
Run Excel 2003 on a Computer That Has a Beta Version of the Multilingual User
Interface Pack (MUI) Installed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831900 since
we do not run beta code.
Any ideas why this would be happening and how to get around it?
