Excel 2003 file won't open successfully in 2007

Today I have opened several Excel 2003 files with Excel 2007. Each has come
up with no row numbers, no column numbers, and the columns set very narrow. I
was successfully opening these same files on Friday, April 18. Does anyone
have an idea what might be causing this problem? These 2003 files are not
usable in 2007 now. I have a need to be able to open 2003 files on a regular
basis and work in compatibility mode. Thanks for your help.

You have posted in the Mac Excel 2008 newsgroup, but your question is about
Windows Excel 2007.

In Windows Excel 2007, to see row numbers and column letters, choose Page
Layout | Sheet Options | Headings | View.

To select all columns, hold down the Control key and press the letter a key,
i.e., Ctrl+a, or click the button in the top left corner at the intersection
of the row numbers and column letters. Then, in Windows Excel 2007, to
change all column widths, choose Home | Cells | Format | Column Width, type
a value (8.43 is the default width), and click OK.

Well, this is a newsgroup for Mac Excel & both versions you mention are for
Windows:) but maybe we can still offer some suggestions:

If others have access to the same files it's possible that someone made a
change or may simply be trying to mess with your mind a bit - or you may
have made an accidental mouse click yourself. In one of the affected files
click the View Tab of the Ribbon & look in the Show/Hide group - if there is
no check in the Headings checkbox click it to turn the Headings back on.
This is a per-file setting, so you'll have to do the same for each file
whose headings aren't showing up.

Regardless of whether that corrects it, you might also do well to take a
look at Office Button> Excel Options> Advanced - Display Options for this
Worksheet & check the Show Row & Column Headers setting there.

If neither of those pointers fix it you'll need to dig a little deeper so
have a look here for the right PC Excel newsgroup to ask in:

I don't know how I accidentally posted this to the Mac forum. Sorry. However,
I fixed my problem by rebooting. What do you know? So this post needs to be
deleted.
