Excel 2003 gives "file not found" message

Since upgrading from Office 2000 to Office 2003, when I click on an Excel
file, or use the Start->My Recent Documents to click on an Excel file, it
gives the error: Windows cannot find "S:\whatever.xls" Make sure you typed
the name properly ....etc.

Check out

Tools>Options...>General>ignore other applications is unchecked. If this
doesn't work, try going to the start button in windows and typing

Excel.exe /regserver

Thank you, Nick! The Tools>Options...>General>ignore other applications
did it. Once I unchecked that box, it worked. I had already tried the
excel.exe regserver.

Nick,

Do you know how to solve this with Excel 2007? I am having difficulties
trying to find "tools>options>general" to make this change.

It is telling me "windows cannot find "filename" make sure you typed the
name correctly.

Hi,

I also had the same problem with excel 2007 and could solve it by going to :

excel options > advanced > general >

Uncheck the "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)"
