Excel 2003 grey box covering chart

I have a workbook that contains approximately 20 charts with various data.
Each of the charts have a grey box covering them. When I click on the chart,
I can see the actual chart (the grey box goes away), but when I click off of
the chart into another cell, the grey box comes back, and covers the chart.
Does anyone have any ideas on what may be causing this issue?

No, the entire chart moves. When I click off of the chart, the grey box
reappears over the chart. I also thought there was an object over the chart
when thee user approached me about this issues, but unfortunately that isn't
the case...

Can you move the grey box without moving the chart?
