Since upgrading to Excel 2003 I am getting a repeated problem that after
working on a spreadsheet for a while, the horizontal scroll arrows disappear
and the horizontal scrollbar stops working. Sometimes a patch of
barcode-like vertical bars appear in place of the left hand arrow. When I
try to scroll using the horizontal scrollbar this changes the width of the
window instead of scrolling within it. The vertical arrows and scrollbar
work normally, the worksheet tabs are still visible and still work. If I
close the workbook and reopen it the horizontal arrows and scrollbar appear
normally, until the next occurrence of the problem. I have been unable to
link the problem to any behaviour of mine, and unable to find any reference
to the problem on the web. My employer has checked for updates to Excel 2003
and installed them. Still the problem occurs and is getting tedious. Any
ideas?
