Excel 2003 says file is damaged & Can't open, Opens in Excel 2000

I have been working on rather large data files and upon my most recent save,
both to flash drive and HD I have not been able to reopen either file via
Excel 2003 (in which it was created). If, however, I take the flash over to
my old system which runs 2000 Excel, the file opens fine. I need to find the
source of the problem on my new system as I spent a lot of $$ to acquire
Office Professional. I have virus software and none have been detected on my
system or these files. My new system is also connected online and I need to
transfer the file(s) from there.

Please assist as I need to recover the file on the new system.
